James Munroe "Jim" Cleveland, Jr., Class of '50

Jim Cleveland 1950 Year Book

I played B-Team backetball in 1948. I played Varsity football in 1949-50.

I really enjoyed knowing the guys on the football team. The games with Jordan and Columbus High each year were really exciting.

I worked at Columbus Bank & Trust Company from 1950 to 1953. In 1953, I married Martha Coleman (Jordan Class of 1953). I was drafted into the Army in 1954 and, after Basic Training, was shipped out to Germany where I served until December 1955. I attended Auburn University and graduated in 1958 with a BS in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. I worked for a couple of years in Birmingham, Alabama. Then, I moved To Atlanta, Georgia where I worked until November 1993. Almost all of my career at Trust Company of Georgia, now known as SunTrust Banks, was spent in the Computer business. I managed the System Design and Programming function during the 1970's amd early 1980's. We merged with the Sun Banks of Florida and I became the Controller of SunTrust Service Corp. (the computer company for the Banks). Since retiring, I play golf and play with my computers.

Martha and I had 2 children, Thomas Wayne Cleveland (1958) and Carol Lynn Berry (1961). Tom has two sons, Christopher and Kevin. Carol has two daughters, Ashley and Heather.
