Sylvia Whiteford (McCutcheon), Class of '59

About-Baker: Rather quiet and unassumming - ha! Was into choral music- was the accompanist at one time. Member of National Honor Society, Future Teachers of America. Most memorable moments were the Sock Hops and dances after the football and basketball games. Worked in Mrs. Atkinson's office (Dean of Girls in the 50's). Was told by Fred Kirby, the Principal, that I had made one of the lowest SAT scores in the History of Baker High. Probably so as I made a design on the paper as I never read a question.

After-Baker: Graduated from The Woman's College of Georgia in 1963 with a B.S. in Elementary Education and received my Master's in Education from the Atlanta University in 1974. Have taught 8th Grade English for 39 years. Retired from Muscogee County School District in 1993 and have been teaching at St. Anne Catholic School for the past 9 years. Am married to the same man for 38 years, John E. McCutcheon, a hardware man. We have no children. We live in the grand country town of Upatoi which is 20 miles outside of Columbus, Georgia, on 6 acres of land. I was organist for several Methodist Churches for about 30 years in Columbus.
