Dale Wilson, 1965 |
I graduate from the Citadel in 1969 with a B.A. in History. Somewhere in my youth I developed a lung disorder that kept me out of the service, oh how I wanted to be a 2nd Lt. of Marines. I went to Sears as a manager and stayed with them 25 years. I lived in New Orleans,La.; LaPlace,La.; Atlanta,Ga.; Rome,Ga.; Albany,Ga. and Shelby,N.C. When I retired from Sears I returned to Albany, Georgia where my family had waited for my last tour of duty. It was fun commuting 400 miles every other weekend during my last 18 months at Sears. My wife of thirty years, Susan Lynd of New Orleans, is employed at the Marine base in Albany. We have three children Shannon, Travis, and Kelly. None are married so I still feel young. Kelly graduates Albany High in 2003 and plans to attend UGA like her sister. I remember fondly my years at Baker and we drive by the old school often when going to the big city (Columbus) to shop. It was fun looking at my many friends web pages and it brought back many memories; ROTC, Callaway Picnic, etc. Besides working in Albany, while waiting for my wife to retire, I enjoy working with the Boy Scouts as a Scoutmaster and Venture Crew Advisor. My son is an Eagle Scout and Kelly a Silver Award holder in Venturing. Shannon escaped the BSA except for her summer on staff at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, where she met her future husband. So she wasn't all mad that I asked her to go along with her brother in the summer of 1999.
