Cheri South (Kirkland), Class of '67

I did nothing in school--I know I didn't study like I now know I should have. I did attempt to try out for the drill team 'The Dandy Lions' but chickened out on try out day---oh well...

After graduation in June 1967 I married Larry Joiner (Baker '63) in July. Our son David was born April 1972. Unfortunately Larry and I divorced in 1977 but we remain friends through today. David graduated from Georgia Tech School of Engineering in 1995 and is currently living in Decatur, Georgia, happily married to wife Sara. Color us proud parents!

I later married Tony Kirkland and we have a son Tony, Jr. who is still at home and attending Columbus State University. Tony, Sr and I celebrated our 20th anniversary this past spring and live in Columbus.

I am currently working as an investigator for the Georgia State Board of Pardons and Paroles in Columbus. Tony retired after 25 years in the banking industry and is now working with a commercial mortgage company.

July, 1997
