Hey all ya Lions!!!!
Hey, especially dandelions, lion backers, beta tri-hi-y, chorus, band, and thespian society! Sorry I haven't kept in touch as I should. I want to thank the late John Grantham for teaching me clarinet and those band trips; Raymond Campbell for allowing me to sing the role of Mother Abbess in the school musical, The Sound of Music, which led me to perform at the Springer Opera House in three productions; and Tommy Newman for getting me into Florida state university school of music summer music camp after graduating from baker. I was voted "most talented" on FSU's campus August 1970. In September of that same year, I enrolled in Morris Brown College in Atlanta majoring in public school music. On the side, I worked in the crystal pistol show at Six Flags over Georgia, recorded jingles for Six Flags over Texas, a college radio DJ, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus under the leadership of the late Robert Shaw, and many other music activities. During these times, I was also married to a commercial artist I met while we were both students at MBC. That didn't work out for me at all. our son passed away after birth and I returned to MBC.
Upon graduating from MBC, I went to work as a GS-10 for the Armed Forces Professional Entertainment Organization touring Italy and Germany. I fell in love with Germany! Upon returning from the tour, I entered Bowling Green State University College of Musical Arts for Masters in Vocal Performance. It was there I decided to become a professional singer rather than teach public school.
I left for New York City under the encouragement of jazz pianist Stanley Cowell and saxophonist Jimmy Heath. I appeared in off-off broadway productions and off-broadway repertory theatre. I met an agent that sent me to Germany! I have enjoyed tremendous success as a singer-musician in Europe backing such artists as Englebert Humperdinck, Rick Astley, Hoyt Axton, and my greatest success, Boney M. I have also enjoyed being a private music teacher with students that have topped the U.S. pop charts, an honorary member of Kiwanis International of Malaysia, and I am in the archives of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Returning to my first love---jazz! My future plans are to have success in jazz as I had in pop-disco. I am a resident of Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and Munich, Germany. Occasionally, I return to Columbus to visit friends.
