Evonda Martin, Class of '72

B.A. Columbus College
Son, Alan, born in 1983.

New year, new job. Alan is still trying to figure out what to do next, but has been thinking of enlisting. Is anxious pride an emotion?

I followed Huck Finn's example and ran away when things got too civilized. Southeast Alaska is like Avalon...shrouded in mists, incomparably beautiful, magical, set apart from the rest of the world. When it is clear, the skies above the icefield are purest blue. The handle of the Big Dipper is just beyond tip-toe height. Eagles, orcas, humpbacks, and bears are neighbors. Christmas trees grow here! How can I describe the eerie beauty of the Northern Lights playing behind fog?

Keep the Tongass roadless and don't drill in ANWR!
