A few memories of my days at Baker.
I remember competing with Ruby Sabordo for all A's on our report cards (this was not normal for me) and making all A's except for one B from Mr. Knowles, after he slept through countless classes that grading period.
I remember sitting on the benches in the courtyard and some guy talking about pulling the fire alarm and daring him that he wouldn't do it, and he did.
I remember skipping classes and exiting the campus through the tunnel under the football field.
I remember Coach Laney bringing in a BB gun and shooting people in the butt if they didn't act right (it was low power but, what was he thinking?).
I remember being in the marching band my freshman year and turning the wrong way on the field at Memorial Stadium and having to run back to catch up.
I remember a foundness for Mrs. Farley and Mr. Hardy and them being good teachers.
I remember some funny times in Mr. Hardy's class with Frank Kluck and Lisa Brooks (Big bird).
Looking back I wouldn't trade it for anything (well, maybe I would when I really think about it)
I went to Baker from 1977 to 1979. I quit Baker in my Junior year then went wild for a couple of years. I graduated from Hallie Turner High School in 1981. (I now wish I had stayed at Baker, oh well!) After that I graduated from Columbus Tech in Electronics and have worked in the electronics industry ever since.
I have lived in Newnan, GA for the past 20 years. About 8 years ago my parents sold their house on Emory Street in Oakland Park and moved up this way. I have two boys, 13 and 10. My brothers Steve and Mike(married Debbie Sabordo) and sister Cheryl also live in the Newnan area.
In my early 20's I started reading the Bible and found a truth like no other. It has helped me ever since. I wasn't really searching for anything, I just thought, "If that book is true, I should read it." I still like to have fun and all, but within limits. If you don't have any limits you have disaster, that's why our world faces so many problems today. I encourage each of you, if you don't have one, go to a local christian book store and pick up a copy of the Bible and start reading the New Testament. It will change your life, and it will be for the better. And also, if that book is true and there is an eternity, you should read it and find out about what it takes to get to the right place. Enough of my preaching for now.
